BEST ANSWER: No, it does not. I started washing them in cold water but eventually worked into warm water. The shirt neither shrunk or faded.

When I ordered this style and brand of shirt, I too say the size stated as "R." To me that meant that the length of sleeve is of regular length for a man with average length arms, as compared to say a tall man with longer length arms. To me that is also the way it fits on me as I wear shirts that have a sleeve length of around a 32".
