In specific regard to this jacked...Scandia Woods Textured Silk Jacket...although it has a generous amount of material, I believe you would find it too tight around the middle, as you make a point about having a "big belly". I'm close to your height, fifty pounds lighter, and I have just a comfortable amount of room in this jacket. I would advise against purchasing it as you would probably wind up returning it, or giving it away.

This jacket is very soft and loose fit. I bought a black one first and loved it, so I bought a second one. Size ruins pretty true.

can you wash it by hand or washer?

BEST ANSWER: Rather than just "yes", I can offer additional information from my experience. I usually wear a an extra-large in shirts, coats and sweaters. I needed an extra-large tall with this product, and I bought three. If you meant does it require washing by hand only, the answer is no. But use a delicate washer cycle and shorter drying time.

Yes, you can wash it either way; I wash it in a washing machine, and dry it in the dryer. I let it stay in the dryer only long enough to be dry...I keep an eye on it there because it is silk. It doesn't require ironing to look good - I take it out of the dryer while it's still tumbling.

BEST ANSWER: In my experience, the size is exactly right. I wear X-large. The fit is a bit on the tight side rather than loose.

How do you know if you need to order tall on a jacket?

BEST ANSWER: A 'Regular' is fine if you are between 5'9" and about 6'1" tall. If you are less than 5'9" you might consider getting a 'Short', or a 'Tall' if your height is more -- the overall length of the cut of the coat (or shirt) is proportional so that your clothing looks normal regardless of height instead of ridiculous.

I would disagree somewhat with other reviewers about the sizing of these jackets. I found the arms to run shorter than the normal sizes they should be. I had to exchange three due to short arm length. Bought "tall" and they were fine.
